Park fire update

Since June 1st there have been several fires along Hwy 71 that have burned approximately 200 acres in McKinney Roughs.

The smaller Pope Bend Trailhead is now the ONLY trail head available for hikers and equestrians. The gates are open every day from 8am until 8pm with 9 miles of shady dirt trails available, some of it along the river. However, access to the river is closed for now.

Open and undamaged trails are: Roadrunner, Yaupon, Coyote, Deep Sandy, Pecan Bottom and Buckeye. Access to the river is expected soon. Water is available at the usual place on Coyote trail and at the trailhead.

ALWAYS call the 24/7 hotline before leaving home!
